Role of hedgehog signalling in bile ductular cells

The article highlights the results of a study which identified increased hedgehog signaling within the livers of bile duct ligated rats. Sonic hedgehog and Indian hedgehog were found to be increased during bile duct ligation in periportal epithelial cells expressing pancytokeratin, representing potential liver progenitor cell populations.
