ABSTRACT
The article presents guidelines recommended by a panel of experts on how chief procurement officers (CPO) can gain control over spending and cutting costs during economic downturn. It explains that overall value with suppliers should be evaluated rather than sourcing for lower costs. Other guidelines include mitigating inflation, renegotiating contract compliance and gaining spending visibility.
