ABSTRACT
The article reports on the research conducted by the scientists at the National University of Singapore regarding the implication of silver-nanoprism solution in Singapore. They created an optical limiter based on silver nanoprisms that bests the performance of carbon nanotubes (CNT) and found that these substances have the potential for protecting optical sensors and the human eyes.

We present an overview of strong correlations in single-wall carbon nanotubes, and an introduction to the techniques used to study them theoretically. We concentrate on zigzag nanotubes, although universality dictates that much of the theory can also be applied to armchair or chiral nanotubes....

We report the electrical characteristics of substrate-supported metallic single walled carbon nanotubes at temperatures up to 573 K over a range of bias voltages (Vb) for zero gate voltage in air under atmospheric pressure. Vacancies are one of the most important defects in carbon nanotubes (CNTs). Vacancies could affect the mechanical, chemical, and electronic properties of CNTs. In this study, we first use first-principles plane-wave calculation to optimize the structure of single-walled CNTs with a double...

We study a versatile structurally favorable periodic sp2-bonded carbon atomic planar sheet with C4v symmetry by means of the first-principles calculations. This carbon allotrope is composed of carbon octagons and squares with two bond lengths and is thus dubbed as octagraphene. It is a semimetal...

We demonstrate ultrafast modulation of terahertz radiation by unaligned optically pumped single-walled carbon nanotubes. We report the density functional theory total energy calculations of thermal stability and formation barrier of polymer nitrogen confined in carbon nanotubes (CNT). The analysis suggests that N8 polymer nitrogen encapsulated in (5,5) carbon nanotube [N8@CNT(5,5)] is thermally (meta)stable at a...
