The article reports that EAL, an organization that awards qualifications, is to set up a series of Vocationally Related Qualifications (VRQS) for designers of new electrical installations. This is in cooperation with the Electrical Contractors Association (ECA) for the application of the 17th edition of the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE) Wiring Regulations (BS7671:2008). David Pollock, ECA group chief executive, said that the new wiring regulations is a very "significant" change in electrical systems in 20 years.
