ABSTRACT
The article focuses on orientalism, a form of imperialism that has been known after the book published by Edward Said in 1978. It has been described as the grandest of all narratives connecting Western knowledge and imperialism. Although it is regarded as a general theory of representation, it applies specifically to Islam and the Muslims. According to Said, while the French and British were expanding their colonies, ideas about the colonized were also being formed.
