ABSTRACT
The mechanism for the formation of C2+ paraffins differs from the mechanism for the formation of methane. While methane is obtained due to hydrogenation of methyl groups, C2+ hydrocarbons are formed as the result of the conversion of alkyl intermediates into hydroalkene intermediates, which can decompose to give olefins or undergo hydrogenation to give saturated hydrocarbons.
