ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the 2008 U.S. presidential election. It discusses the campaign of the Democratic candidate Barack Obama and explores the fact that he has been called "elitist." The concept of elitism in politics is analyzed and the similarities between Obama and his competitor, the Republican candidate John McCain, in this regard are examined.
