The article focuses on talent management. A multitude of programmes have been developed to attract, retain and upgrade talent. It is deemed to comprise of various factors, including competence, commitment and contribution. Competence means that individuals have the knowledge, skills and values required for the job but without commitment, competence is discounted. Competence can be developed by articulating a theory or setting a standard, assessing individuals and organisations and investing in talent improvement.
