Akzo Nobel CEO rules out large M&A in 2008

The article reports on the announcement by Dutch coatings and chemicals group Akzo Nobel NV that it is not contemplating any large acquisitions in 2008, but added that smaller add-on acquisitions could emerge. Chief executive officer (CEO) Hans Wijers reiterated that the company will concentrate on integrating the recently-acquired Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI). As part of the integration process, he added that the company will merge the chemicals activities of ICI it plans to retain into its own Chemicals division.
