AMD Stream Processor First to Break 1 Teraflop Barrier

The article reports on the launch of the next-generation stream processor, AMD FireStream 9250, by AMD at the International Supercomputing Conference in California. The company designed its stream generator to accelerate critical algorithms in high-performance computing, mainstream and consumer applications. It breaks the one teraflop barrier for single-precision performance. The AMD FireStream 9250 includes a second-generation double-precision floating point hardware implementation that delivers more than 200 gigaflops.
