ABSTRACT
The article reports on the impact of insulin formulation in a type two diabetes mellitus patients with poor glycemic control. It cites a clinical trial which compares the efficacy and safety of adding three insulin regimens to the treatment of patients with type two diabetes. It mentions that the formulation added to metformin and sulfonylurea resulted in a glycated hemoglobin level of 6.5% in a year. It assures that through a higher risks of hypoglycemia and a higher weight gain, the good control of the disease in the prandial group was balanced. Moreover, the treatment of the patient has to include the most suitable regimen of insulin on top of antidiabetic medication to achieve a proper control.
