ABSTRACT
The article reports on Inscentinel Ltd.'s utilization of honey bees for the detection of chemical compounds in very small amounts. The company finds bees more advantageous than traditional electronic sensors because they are more sensitive to smells and are highly selective. The idea works by loading honey bees into a detector and by recording their responses using a video camera. Moreover, it notes that the Inscentinel system has already been used in several food applications.
