ABSTRACT
The article presents a study that was conducted by E.J. Mills and colleagues, whether statins prevent stroke and reduce mortality in adults. The study compared a statin with placebo or no treatment. Meta-analysis showed that statins were more effective than placebo or no treatment for reducing all-cause mortality and all strokes. Statins prevented cardiovascular deaths and nonhemorrhagic cerebrovascular events.
