ABSTRACT
The article discusses the risks to hospice patients as presented by the reduction of wage index from the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Renne Hahn, chief financial officer of Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, points out that if CMS would only focus on the reimbursement without looking globally, the hospices need to cut the services given to the patients. She adds that the continued cuts could deviate more community funds raised by the hospice.
