ABSTRACT
The article reflects on the death of art-historian Sir Ernst Gombrich. The author, who is the general editor of the magazine "Marg," recounts an encounter with him in the fall of 1962 at Cambridge University, in Cambridge, England. In 1962 Gombrich lectured on "Leonardo da Vinci, the Artist and Scientist." The author describes the lecture as being the start of a relationship with Gombrich. Gombrich authored "The Story of Art." Also mentioned in the article are the new galleries opened by the Honolulu Academy of Arts, in Honolulu, Hawaii, which are named after the Watumulls, an Indian family in Hawaii.
