ABSTRACT
The article discusses research being done on the link between BMI1 expression and survival rate in patients who experienced graft-versus-host disease. It references a study published in the 2008 issue of "Blood." The study included 84 patients diagnosed with chronic-phase chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) and underwent an allogeneic transplant between 1981 and 2002. Researchers found that CML patients who received allogeneic stem cell from an HLA-identical sibling have better overall survival if they have high BMI1 expression.
