ABSTRACT
The article offers information on the Nutrition Center of Maine program of the Saint Mary's Health System in Lewiston, Maine. The program encompasses nutrition education and services literally from the ground up. It serves as an attempt of the system to stem the epidemic of poor nutrition and obesity in a small community. The Nutrition Center's flagship program is Lots to Gardens, the brainchild of Kirsten Walter, the Bates College student who is now the center's director.
