This article reports on the sale of Orthodox icons by Christie's in London, England, on June 9, 2008. The sale fell short of its low estimate. However, the prices achieved in the icon market are still a historical high. According to icon specialist Maria Paphiti, nearly 80 percent of buyers of the market are Russians.
