New DGCI system to make life easier for the pharma industry

The article reports on a centralised uniform system initiated by the Drugs Controller General of India (DGCI) in 2008 in order to facilitate the country's pharmaceutical industry to position itself in the global market. Doctor Surendra Singh of DGCI said that the online real time system for various approvals will be implemented within two to three. DGCI is trying to organize time frame for all the procedures within eight weeks. Surendra stressed the need for the industry to utilize patent for the benefit of generic drugs.
