ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the consumer research conducted by NPD Group Inc. concerning the building materials industry in the U.S. The research highlights the domination of warehouse home centers in the entrance door and door knobs/lock categories as well as in replacement windows. Vinyl still reigns as the material of choice for replacement windows by large majority. The market shares of aluminum and wood in 2008 have increased, while vinyl declined by 5%.
