ABSTRACT
The article reports that Scotia Gas Networks (SGN) engineers have access on their laptops to plans of its underground plant in Scotland. Historically, SGN, ScottishPower Energy Networks (SPEN) and SSE Power Distribution (SSEPD) have stored their maps on their own electronic systems, relying on large volumes of hand-delivered paper maps of each other's plant locations. SGN commissioned CLIFF-Technologies to build a 21st century map viewing system that could handle the data, fit on to field laptops and handle data from any utility willing to supply it.
