The article reports on the problems associated with the use of mobile and portable equipment in fire rescue operations in the U.S. According to the incident report from Prince William County Department of Fire Rescue, the death of firefighter Kyle Wilson of Woodridge, Virginia was associated to the use of a Motorola digital trunked radio system. With this regard, the International Association of Fire Chief has established a digital problem working group to analyze technological troubles.
