ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the implication of harmonic distortion wherein its prevalent source in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system are the alternating-current (AC) drives. It says harmonic distortion can be present in voltage and current. It does not add power to a system, even though additional current flows through electrical wires. It cites the negative effects of harmonic distortion on equipment which include conductor overheating, blown fuses and circuit breakers.
