Lack of candidate skills blamed for continuing recruitment difficulties, CIPD survey reveals

The article reports that a Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development research found that British employers are placing blame for their continued difficulty in filling vacancies on skills gaps. Eighty-six percent of firms are having trouble filling vacancies despite the economic slowdown, according to the institute's "Recruitment, Retention and Turnover 2008" survey. Seventy percent of 779 companies surveyed cited a lack of necessary candidate skills as the main reason for their recruitment difficulties.
