ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the development of video servers into a media platform that improves workflow efficiency. Sharing media over a storage area network (SAN) reduced baseband routing requirements and enabled new server-centric workflow models. It notes that the integration of graphics into server playout or the addition of a built-in multiviewer are remarkable accomplishments. This suggests that platform improves workflow efficiency throughout the broadcast chain.
