ABSTRACT
The article offers a description of basalt that can be found in Texas. Basalt is a heavy igneous rock that is made up of a feldspar mineral such as labradorite and a pyroxene mineral called augite. Furthermore, the mineral grains of some of these specimens are so small, while other basalts are porphyritic. Some basalts may also contain many small holes called vesicles and they are formed when bubbles of gas were trapped in the hardening magma.
