ABSTRACT
The article discusses the origins of the Bruges lace and the steps in making the Bruges lace crochet. The lace, which goes back to the 15th century, is created by using straight tapes combined with needlework stitches. Bruges lace-making became popular during the early years of the industrial revolution. The lace can be used for an assortment of objects from tablecloths to baby bibs. The author elaborates on how a crocheted Bruges is made.
