ABSTRACT
The article reports that consumer activist Chellie Pingree has defeated Iraq war hero Adam Cote in the Democratic primaries in Maine's 1st House District. Pingree garnered 45% of the vote while Cote received 25% in the six primary race. The race was marked by controversies regarding the campaign contributions worth $135, 000 of mailings by the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) in behalf of Cote.
