CDC: new foodborne illness strategies needed

The article focuses on a report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) which showed little change in the incidence of some foodborne infections after a period of decline. The results are part of the agency's Foodborne Diseases Active Surveillance Network, FoodNet. According to the report, Campylobacter, Listeria, Salmonella, Shigella, Escherichia coli O157, Vibrio and Yersinia did not decline significantly and the estimated incidence of Cryptosporidium increased from 2004 to 2006.
