ABSTRACT
The article discusses threatened cuts in public library budgets in Thuringia, Germany. The chairman of the Turingian Library Association, Dr. Frank Simon-Ritz, complained in a May 2007 hearing that former provincial funding for public libraries might disappear in the 2008-2009 budget. He cited figures showing a massive deficit in library accounts and asked the Association to support a library law initiative.
