The article focuses on the works of Peter Henry Emerson, an American amateur photographer who lived in England. It cites on the book "Naturalistic Photography" in which Emerson introduced and gave lecture to the London Camera Club in 1886. According to the article, Emerson believes that photographers should explore into an open air and not in their studios only. He is strict in terms with the technique of combination printing then in vogue by which several separate negatives were used to create a single print. Emerson hated brittle, overall detail, and preached the gospel of differential focusing, depicting the principal areas of the picture sharp, and subordinate areas unsharp.
