ABSTRACT
The article reports on the profit performance of Martinsville, Virginia-based case goods and upholstery producer Hooker Furniture Corp. for the first quarter of 2008. First quarter profits and sales decreased, but gross margin improved by 1.4 percentage points due to the firm's shift to higher-margin imported wood furniture and outsourced manufacturing of case goods.
