ABSTRACT
The article reports on the financial performance in 2007 of the individual annuity industry in the U.S., presented by Limra International Inc. at the Retirement Industry Conference in April 2008 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The industry, led by variable annuities has achieved $257 billion in sales. According to Joseph Montminy, associate research director in retirement research of Limra International Inc., variable annuities registered $184 billion in sales and are driven by guaranteed living benefits.
