ABSTRACT
The article provides insights on how to encourage clinical trial staff to speak up when necessary, in order to protect patient safety. Marsh senior vice president Grena Porto implies that some employees are not empowered to do so. She adds that a stop-the-line culture, in which the lowest-ranking employee can intervene when patient safety or compliance is threatened, requires such attitude to be modeled across the board. Christy Dempsey of PatientFlow Technology cites the need to assure staff that they will be supported by the institution.
