ABSTRACT
The use of psychodiagnostic tests is of utmost importance in Forensic Psychology and, therefore, in prisons. The purpose of this article is to review the techniques available that help us to evaluate inmates exhaustively. The assessment focuses on a wide range of areas such as personality, psychopathology, intelligence, neuropsychological shortages, self-control ability, violent behaviour, attitudes, psychopathy, simulation of mental disorders and criminal recidivism. Not only are the characteristics of psychometric tests included, but also the different methods of evaluating simulation and a documentary review of many researches that support the optimal and necessary use of these tests in prisons.
