The article discusses the process of creating the fabrics and over 250 costumes for the Broadway production of Disney's theatrical production "The Lion King" in 1995 in New York City. According to the article, among the required designs were petroglyph-like symbols for the stage curtains, beaded corsets for the lion clan costumes, fiber suggestive of a rising sun, and an evaporating watering hole. Both large-scale shops and individual independent designers were hired including Joan Morris, Joni Johns, Mary Macy, and J. Michelle Hill.
