Reports on the rise in the stock price of USA Network Inc. in June 2000, after news broke that one of its largest shareholders, Jos. E. Seagram Co. Ltd., was the target of a takeover bid. Confirmation by French utility and media conglomerate Vivendi SA and pay TV company Canal Plus Sa that they were in negotiations to acquire Seagram; Plan of USA Network to enter the European market.
