ABSTRACT
The article discusses the impact of reality shows on cable television in the U.S. It is noted that reality shows offer alternatives to scripted originals. For other networks such as The N, reality is more than just a means of making originals on a budget. Furthermore, the president of TVLand Larry Jones believed that the viewing audience is becoming more accustomed to the format of reality shows.
