ABSTRACT
This article reports on the decision by Monsanto India Ltd. to sell its Butachlor and Alachlor businesses to Sinochem International (Overseas) Pte Ltd. in 2008. According to Amitabh Jaipuria, general manager of Monsanto, the company is strategically focused on its two core businesses of hybrid corn seed and Roundup herbicide. He believes the two businesses are key to long-term growth and value.
