ABSTRACT
The article presents a warning from the NFU that broiler producers will stop rearing birds unless more cash is passed down the food chain. An NFU survey has found that production costs in the chicken meat sector have risen by nearly 25% in the past year. Meanwhile, a separate British Marketing Survey revealed strong consumer demand for British chicken, with more than 70% of consumers actively seeking to buy assured meat.
