ABSTRACT
The article reports on the advanced seasonally-adjusted For-Hire Truck Tonnage Index of the American Trucking Associations (ATA) for February 2008. It states that the index remained flat at 117.2 following a 2.4% rise in January. It adds that tonnage rose 3.5% from the previous year as well as noted the fourth consecutive year-over-year increase in the index. ATA chief economist Bob Costello regards the reading as encouraging since truck tonnage did not drop.
