ABSTRACT
The article discusses the top 50 grocers in the U.S. ranked by supermarket sales volume. For the top 10 operators, the numbers show a gain of about $11.8 billion, or 3.4 percent, in total supermarket sales volume compared with the 2007 list. The list is ranked by reported or estimated annual sales performance as of February 2008. Included in the list are Wal-Mart Stores, Kroger Co., and Safeway Inc.
