ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the equivalence clinical trial investigating if co-administration of heparin thromboprophylaxis is equivalent to placebo in adults with severe sepsis who are receiving drotrecogin alfa (activated) (DrotAA). The trial, conducted with 1994 patients who were 18 years of age, found out that in adults with severe sepsis who were receiving DrotAA (activated), heparin thromboprophylaxis did not increase mortality and was safe with respect to other clinical outcomes.
