ABSTRACT
The article reports that the Puerto Rico Treasury Department has been expecting to receive $100 million in taxes from the $1.3 billion federal economic stimulus package approved by the U.S. Congress. The purpose of the federal stimulus package is to put money into the hands of consumers in an effort to stimulate the national economy. In fact, the Puerto Rico Department of the Treasury has been distributing the checks to eligible Puerto Rico taxpayers under the so-called Summer Bonus.
