State guest-worker bill caught in senate limbo

May 2008
Inside Tucson Business;5/26/2008, Vol. 17 Issue 51, p4
The article reports that a bill seeking to create a guest-worker program has been debated in the U.S. Senate. The legislation would allow businesses, specifically those who are experiencing a labor shortage, to import temporary workers from Mexico if they met certain guidelines. According to Senator Marsha Arzberger of Willcox, scheduling deliberations have become an issue to lawmakers by spending time to focus on the budget deficit.
