ABSTRACT
The article presents information on the controversy surrounding the closure of Thailand's only independent station iTV. After the channel failed to meet a deadline to pay annual fees and a huge penalty for breach of contract, it was decided to close the station. However within 24 hours, iTV had been resurrected under the new name, TITV with the Thai Government's Public Relations Department as its new management. Bankruptcy still hangs over ITV. The fine, say politicians, must be paid somehow.
