The article reports that sales of beef-on-the-bone in Great Britain have received a boost, following an European Union (EU) Commission decision to raise the age limit at which vertebral column must be removed from carcasses under its system of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) controls. The government used to allow the sale of bone-in beef from animals up to 30 months old, but this was reduced to 24 months as a condition for allowing British beef exports to resume in May 2006.
