ABSTRACT
The article reports on the U.S. Centers for Medicare ∧ Medicaid Services (CMS) Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) 2008 survey. Its purpose is to provide a standardized measure of hospitals, such as hospital cleanliness and others, which can be compared with other facilities to determine quality in hospitals, according to Nancy Foster, vice president of the American Hospital Association. Alegent Health, a hospital system in Nebraska, reportedly plans to release a version of the results of the survey.
