ABSTRACT
The article looks at the experiences of Catholics in and from the Diocese of Tyler, Texas who witnessed the visit of Pope Benedict XVI to the U.S. from April 15 to 20, 2008. Members of Saint John the Evangelist Church in Emory stand outside the various places the pope would be in order to see him, according to parishioner Jill Killiam. Former member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Julius Jackson, related that he was able to touch the pope and kiss his ring. Father Christopher Ruggles described the personality of the pope.
