ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the message of hope built on faith and a joint commitment to defending the dignity of the human person preached by Pope Benedict XVI during his visit to the U.S. from April 15 to 20, 2008. The pope also acknowledged the evil of clerical sexual abuse crisis, as well as met with abuse victims. Citizens were encouraged by Pope Benedict to resist the temptations and trends of modern society and defend human rights, among others. The pope addressed the General Assembly and staffers at the United Nations (UN).
